What it does
MRatioMB lets you "crossfade between the main input and sidechain" in up to six bands. It is the free multiband version of MeldaProduction's MRatio, and the developer pitches it as an easy way to make a sound unique through multiband blending.
- Up to 6 bands: set a different blend between the main signal and the side-chain signal in each band.
- Flexible crossovers: split by frequency (linear-phase or analog with adjustable slope), level, panorama, mid/side, transients, tonal versus noise content, or in parallel, with a built-in analyzer.
- Modulation: four modulators that work as LFO, level follower, ADSR envelope, randomizer or pitch detector can move the blend over time.
- Uses: parallel processing per band (put the processed signal on the side-chain), or mixing two sources frequency by frequency.
- Safety and level: automatic gain compensation and a safety brickwall limiter that stops the output going over 0 dB.
- Channel modes and workflow: mono, stereo, mid/side, surround up to 8 channels and ambisonics up to 64 channels, with A-H slots, A-D morphing and smart randomization.
MRatioMB is free and part of MeldaProduction's MFreeFXBundle. MeldaProduction promises free updates for life.

When to use it
MRatioMB is a routing tool rather than a meter: unlike SPAN or Metric AB, which analyse and compare audio, it mixes a main track with a side-chain source, band by band. That makes it the pick for multiband parallel processing, for example keeping a heavily compressed signal only in the low mids, or for layering two sounds so each one supplies a different range. Compared with MRatio, it does the same blend in up to six bands with Melda's full crossover set. The setup takes more thought than a plugin's own mix knob.
- Best for: multiband parallel processing and blending two sources band by band.
- Genres: any; it is a mixing and sound design utility.
- Look elsewhere if: you only need a simple dry/wet blend; MRatio or a plugin's own mix knob is enough.
