What it does
MAutoEqualizer is MeldaProduction's transparent EQ built around automatic equalization: it analyses a track and sets up its bands to move the sound towards a target you choose. The developer pitches it as a "transparent and musical-sounding equalizer" for the most important task in mixing.
- Automatic equalization: analyse the track, pick what it should sound like, and the plugin's filter adaption technology sets the EQ bands for you; it can also match and separate spectra.
- Reference targets: KVR's listing says it ships with analyses of more than 80 professional reference songs to match against.
- 10-band EQ: each band can be a peak, low or high shelf, low-pass, high-pass, band-pass or notch filter, with Q from 0.05 to 10.
- Linear phase: a separate MAutoEqualizerLP version for linear-phase work, with a choice of bidirectional filtering, FFT or standard minimum-phase processing.
- Visualisation: an integrated analyser, sonogram and spectrum display.
- Engine and interface: 64-bit processing up to 384 kHz, 1x to 4x upsampling, a dry/wet control, and a resizable interface where values can also be typed in.

When to use it
MAutoEqualizer is the pick when matching a track to a reference is the main job and you want the EQ to do the first pass for you. FabFilter Pro-Q 4 and Ozone EQ also have linear-phase modes and EQ matching, but in MAutoEqualizer the matching workflow is the centre of the plugin rather than one feature among many. Compared with Pro-Q 4 it has fewer bands and no dynamic EQ. Unlike TDR Nova, which is a free dynamic EQ with no matching, it is a paid static EQ focused on tonal balance. Its look and workflow follow the MeldaProduction style, which suits users already working with their other plugins.
- Best for: matching a mix or master to a reference, making several tracks on a release sound consistent, and clean linear-phase tonal shaping.
- Genres: any; it is a general mixing and mastering tool.
- Look elsewhere if: you need dynamic bands (MAutoDynamicEq, Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova) or an analogue-style EQ with colour (Pultec Passive EQ Collection).
- Tip: treat the automatic result as a starting point, then refine the bands by hand with the built-in EQ.
What producers say
Older user reviews like the matching idea and the clean sound, with price and documentation the main complaints.
- KVR users rate it 4 out of 5 from 2 reviews (both written in 2010, for version 2).
- Praise: one reviewer valued the reference-based suggestions for mastering several tracks consistently and for showing a mix's weak frequencies; another called it "to-the-point, intuitive and easy to use" with low CPU use.
- Criticisms: a manual that could be better, a premium price as a standalone purchase, and few presets.
