MAutoDynamicEq is MeldaProduction's dynamic equalizer, with 7 bands that can each act as a compressor, expander or transient EQ.
It adds automatic EQ matching, side-chain ducking, resonance removal and masking analysis. It was on sale for $51 (regular $113).
Best for: Vocals, Mix Bus, Mastering, Drums, Keys & Synths. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: dynamic, sidechain input, built-in analyzer, vocals, drums, full mix, mastering, match EQ, mixing, surgical, bus processing, corrective, creative, downward expansion, external sidechain, linear-phase, low latency, mid/side, mix bus, oversampling, reference & monitoring, steep learning curve, tube.
What it does
MAutoDynamicEq is MeldaProduction's flagship dynamic EQ, which the developer calls its "most powerful and flexible dynamic EQ." It pairs a 7-band parametric equalizer with a dynamics engine in every band, plus several automatic analysis tools.
- 7 dynamic bands: each with a wide choice of filter shapes and slopes; KVR lists 11 filter types, including peaks, shelves, slope filters and notches.
- Per-band dynamics: every band can compress, expand or act as a transient EQ, with separate attack and sustain controls, and can duck from an external side-chain.
- Automatic equalizer: analyses the spectrum and matches it to a reference track or to profiles built from 80+ reference recordings.
- Resonance removal and masking: automatically finds and notches resonant peaks, and shows frequency masking between competing tracks.
- Modulation: 4 modulators (LFO, level follower, ADSR and pitch detector) for moving filters and creative effects; bands can also track pitch.
- Extras: spectrum analyser and sonogram, built-in tube saturation and limiter, minimum- and linear-phase modes with 1x to 4x upsampling, and stereo, M/S and surround processing.
The current version listed on KVR is 17.10. Melda's prices change often with sales, and a free trial is available.

When to use it
MAutoDynamicEq is the pick for someone who wants one EQ that also does matching, resonance removal and masking analysis. Compared with Pro-Q 4 it offers more automatic tools and modulation, but its interface is busier and harder to learn. Against Waves F6 it adds EQ matching, modulators and resonance removal, while F6 is quicker for plain dynamic band work. TDR Nova is the free dynamic EQ to try first; MAutoDynamicEq goes much further in analysis and sound design.
- Best for: taming harsh or resonant vocals, unmasking competing parts, matching a mix to a reference, and dynamic tone control on buses and masters.
- Genres: any; it is a general mixing and mastering tool, with enough modulation for electronic sound design.
- Look elsewhere if: you want the fastest, cleanest workflow (Pro-Q 4) or a simple free dynamic EQ (TDR Nova).
- Tip: Computer Music suggests using the automatic EQ to help two sources blend, and side-chained dynamic bands to add punch to drums.
What producers say
Reviewers rate it as one of the most capable EQs available, with the learning curve and look as the main complaints.
- Computer Music (MusicRadar, version 8) called it "one of the most powerful and versatile EQs money can buy", praising the matching, the 4 modulators and the simplified easy screen.
- KVR users rate it 4.5 out of 5 from 2 older reviews (2012 and 2013), praising the sound, zero latency and the analyser and sonogram; one called it "more versatile than any other software EQ".
- Criticisms: a steep learning curve, visual styling that could be more polished, and, for one Mac user, heavy CPU use with the interface open.
