MAmp is a vintage-style amp plugin from MeldaProduction for anything from soft saturation to heavy creative distortion.

It uses the distortion algorithm from MVintageRotary and adds modulation, so drive can move with the music or with playing dynamics. It costs $44.

What it does

MAmp is MeldaProduction's vintage amp effect: an analog-style distortion with digital extras that real amps don't have. It is meant for anything from "soft saturation" that adds harmonics to heavy creative distortion.

Analog-style drive: the distortion algorithm comes from MeldaProduction's MVintageRotary, with tube saturation.
Saturation to distortion: use it gently to enrich harmonics or push it into creative distortion.
Two modulators: add movement or make parameters respond to the input, such as drive that follows playing dynamics.
Two multiparameters: single knobs that move several settings at once, with smart randomization for quick new sounds.
Upsampling: adjustable from 1x to 16x to reduce aliasing at high drive.
Routing: mid/side and surround processing up to 8 channels, MIDI learn, automatic gain compensation and a safety limiter.
Interface: MeldaProduction's resizable, GPU-accelerated and stylable interface, with online preset exchange.

When to use it

MAmp is the better pick when you want one vintage amp character with deep modulation, at a low price. Compared with Decapitator, it has fewer distinct flavours but adds modulators, mid/side and surround processing, and up to 16x upsampling. It is narrower than Saturn 2's multiband, many-model design, but cheaper. Unlike RC-20 Retro Color, it adds no noise, wobble or lo-fi texture, just drive. Its interface is plainer than amp-style plugins, which MusicTech called "clinical".

Best for: harmonic warmth or animated distortion on guitars, bass, vocals and drums.
Genres: rock, electronic, lo-fi and hip-hop.
Look elsewhere if: you need a full guitar amp and cabinet simulator, or many distortion types in one plugin; Decapitator or Saturn 2 fit better.
Tip: start from the presets, or use the randomize button to generate new settings with the modulators already moving.

What producers say

MusicTech found it a capable, good-value amp saturator with more depth than its price suggests.

MusicTech (2015) praised its versatility across sources, the modulators and multiparameters, A/B comparison and randomization.
Criticisms: the same review found the interface "clinical", with no pictures of real amps, and possibly too complex for simple amp sounds.
