6034 Ultimate Multi-Band by McDSP

A four-band dynamics processor that puts a swappable compressor, expander or gate module from McDSP's 6050 Ultimate Channel Strip on each band.

Modules can be swapped in real time while keeping their relative settings, so each band can have a different compressor character.

What it does

The 6034 Ultimate Multi-Band is a four-band crossover dynamics processor that uses the compression, expansion and gating modules from McDSP's 6050 Ultimate Channel Strip. Each band gets its own module, so a multiband compressor can mix opto, FET-style and VCA-style behavior across the spectrum.

The current v7 has double-precision processing, zero latency, and mono and stereo versions.

When to use it

The 6034 is the pick when you want a different compressor character on each band, for example an opto module on the lows and a fast FET-style module on the highs. That sets it apart from most multiband compressors on the site, such as FabFilter Pro-MB, Waves C6 and Softube Weiss DS5, which use one compressor design across all bands. It is less traditional than McDSP's own MC2000, a multiband with a simpler approach, and harder to use than Pro-MB for surgical, dynamic-EQ-style work.
