What it does
Pianet T recreates Hohner's 1970s reed-based electric piano. Martinic models the amplified sound with its ACE circuit technology and the acoustic, unplugged tone with physical modelling, aiming for the instrument's "retro charm".
- Pickup model: an ACE-modelled electro-mechanical reed piano, covering the classic amplified Pianet T sound.
- Unplugged model: a physically modelled version of the sound the reeds make acoustically, without the pickup.
- Combined: the pickup and unplugged models can be played together and blended.
- Harmonic mix: a control for shaping the harmonic content of the pickup sound.
- Modulation effects: vibrato, tremolo and chorus for classic electric piano movement.
- Amp and space: a guitar amp for drive and colour, plus reverb.
Version 1.0.4 ships with 32 presets.
When to use it
Pianet T is for the soft reed tone of the Hohner, which neither a Rhodes nor a Wurlitzer plugin gives you. Compared with Arturia Stage-73 V2 or Waves Electric 88 Piano, it is softer and less bell-like, and it suits backing parts more than featured lead keys. Against Arturia Wurli V, also reed-based, it is gentler and less biting. Its unplugged model adds a quiet, intimate option, and as a single focused instrument it costs a fraction of a broad library like Keyscape.
- Best for: vintage pop and indie keys, soft soul comping and lo-fi textures.
- Genres: rock and indie, pop, R&B and soul, lo-fi.
- Look elsewhere if: you want a classic Rhodes or Wurlitzer (Stage-73 V2 or Wurli V), or a large multi-instrument keys library (Keyscape).
