GŌN by MAAT

GŌN is a free stereo goniometer from MAAT that shows stereo image and phase on an analog oscilloscope-style display.

It has an out-of-phase warning and optional autogain, and is free.

Best for: Mix Bus, Mastering. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: free, auto-gain, bus processing, mastering, mix bus, CPU-light, full mix, classic, utility.

What it does

GŌN is MAAT's free stereo goniometer, meant to recreate the look of an analog oscilloscope "while keeping complexity at bay." There are no knobs or switches on the main view, only a single preferences button.

GŌN works at 44.1 to 384 kHz. It is free.

When to use it

GŌN is the pick when you want just a phase scope that stays out of the way: one display, no controls on screen, minimal CPU. Compared with Insight 2 or bx_meter, it has no loudness, spectrum or level meters, but it is free and far simpler. Unlike SPAN, it shows no spectrum, only the stereo picture. Its phosphor colour, drawing style and persistence settings let it mimic an analog scope, which the meter suites do not try to do.
