What it does
Volt is a distortion from Lunacy Audio's BEAM family that combines three approaches.
- Distortion stages: analog-inspired saturation, multiband compression and digital bit-shaping.
- Feedback: a dynamic feedback delay network.
- Range: from subtle warmth to extreme bit-crushing.
- Presets: 30 for Volt from designers such as Geoffrey Day and Dash Glitch, plus a 75-preset "High Voltage" pack for BEAM.
It also comes as a BEAM node (up to three in series or parallel).

When to use it
Reach for it when you want distortion that can move between warm saturation and heavy digital destruction in one plugin, on drums, basses and synths in electronic and experimental music. For simple tape or tube warmth alone, a dedicated saturator is more direct.
