What it does

POD Farm 2.5 is Line 6's "premium tone plug-in that brings world-renowned POD® tone to your favorite DAW." It covers guitar, bass and vocal processing with the classic POD models and a carousel-style gear browser.

Models (Standard): 18 guitar amps, 24 guitar cabs, 5 bass amps, 5 bass cabs, 29 stompboxes and studio effects and 6 mic preamps. Platinum raises this to 78 guitar amps, 28 bass amps, 22 bass cabs and 97 effects.
Dual Tone routing: split the signal into two simultaneous amp and effect chains, with up to 20 effect models (10 per chain) placed before or after the amp, and a virtual A/B/Y box.
POD Farm Elements: single-model plugins (such as POD Farm Mods or Distortions) that give one amp, preamp or effect with less CPU load.
MIDI control: full MIDI support with MIDI Learn for bypass, volume, mute, tap tempo and the A/B/Y box, including Line 6 FBV foot controllers.
Presets: more than 1,000 presets covering many genres and artist-style tones.

When to use it

POD Farm 2.5 is for players who want the familiar POD sound and presets, need bass and vocal preamps in the same plugin, or are matching older POD-based sessions. Line 6's own Helix Native is its modern successor, with far more detailed HX models, and AmpliTube 5 MAX and Guitar Rig 7 Pro are broader current rigs.

Best for: classic POD guitar and bass tones, quick demo tracking, and recreating older POD presets in a DAW.
Genres: rock, metal, pop, funk and general home recording.
Look elsewhere if: you need modern modeling detail; Helix Native is the current Line 6 option.
Standout: Dual Tone routing with the A/B/Y box across the large POD model set.

Sound On Sound (2009) reviewing the original POD Farm, Paul White said it "really does compare with the best that its competitors have to offer" and praised the bass amps, but missed a pitch shifter.
