What it does
The 254E is Lindell Audio's take on a vintage British diode-bridge compressor/limiter, a design that started in broadcast and became a staple of rock and pop production.
- Two circuits: separate limiting and compression sections.
- Attack: selectable slow or fast.
- Mix and sidechain: a wet/dry mix knob for parallel compression, plus external sidechain input.
- Extras: oversampling options and A/B presets.

When to use it
The 254E is a simple, single-band character compressor. Next to a clean modern compressor like FabFilter Pro-C 3 it has far fewer controls and more attitude, and the mix knob makes parallel use easy.
- Best for: drums, bass, guitars and vocals that need punch and warmth.
- Genres: rock, pop and anything that benefits from a British-style squeeze.
- Look elsewhere if: you want the multiband version (see the 354E) or a fast FET sound (see the 7X-500).
