A free plugin that recreates the artefacts of modern internet audio compression by encoding and decoding in real time.
It simulates packet loss, packet disorder and generation loss for glitchy, lo-fi textures.
Best for: Vocals, Drums, Sound Design. Genres: Lo-Fi, Electronic & EDM, Hip-Hop & Trap.
Keywords: lo-fi, free, glitchy, sound design, drums, hardware emulation, mixing, modern, single-band, vocals.
What it does
Codec degrades audio the way streaming and voice-call compression does, rather than imitating vintage gear.
- Modes: voice and music algorithms respond differently.
- Packet loss: emulates bad connections, with reconstruction or repetition.
- Packet disorder: shuffles packets for unpredictable glitches.
- Generation loss: recursive feedback that degrades the sound further (v2.1).
When to use it
A free way to get 'bad internet' glitches for breakcore, hyperpop and sound design.
