It is included in LANDR Studio subscriptions (from $8.25 a month) and can also be bought on its own; the product page does not show the single-plugin price.

Keywords: wavetable, subscription, randomize, modulation matrix, sound design, simple, basses, leads, pads, preset-driven.

What it does

LANDR Synth X is a wavetable synthesizer from the LANDR platform, aimed at quick sound design. LANDR pitches it as a way to make "rich, dynamic tones without a steep learning curve", with a large preset library and a randomizer for starting points.

Wavetable engine: wavetable oscillators with ADSR envelopes and LFOs.
Custom wavetables: import your own wavetables alongside the 100+ that ship with it.
Modulation matrix: assign LFOs, envelopes and other sources to any parameter.
Randomizer: a Randomize button that generates a new patch instantly, as a starting point for editing.
Effects: built-in reverb, delay, saturation and chorus.
Content: 400 presets and more than 100 wavetables.
Interface: a streamlined single-window GUI built for fast editing rather than deep menus.

It is sold on its own and is included in LANDR Studio subscriptions. The sources do not mention a trial.

When to use it

Synth X makes most sense for LANDR Studio subscribers, who get it included, and for beginners who want presets and a randomizer more than a deep engine. Compared with Serum 2 and Vital, it covers the same basic wavetable ground but with a much smaller engine, fewer effects and no third-party preset market. Vital's free tier also undercuts Synth X's price while doing more. Against Phase Plant, it is far simpler and has no modular routing. Bought on its own, it is hard to recommend over those rated alternatives.

Best for: quick wavetable leads, basses and pads from presets, for LANDR Studio subscribers.
Genres: electronic, pop and hip-hop.
Look elsewhere if: you want deep modulation, more oscillators or a big preset ecosystem; Vital (free) or Serum 2 fit better.

What producers say

Very little independent feedback exists, and what there is is negative about value.

KVR users rate it 1.0 out of 5 from 1 review, which counted two wavetable oscillators, two LFOs, one envelope and four effects, and judged it overpriced.
Criticisms: the reviewer called the effects weak and said "there are free synths on the market that are much better"; a KVR forum post reported crashes on closing it in Ableton Live 12.3.1.
