What it does
q.632 is Kush Audio's "modestly updated repackage" of Magpha EQ, a defunct plugin by mastering engineer John Flynn whose phase-modeled filters had a reputation for smoothness. Kush licensed both the plugin and its algorithms and kept the core DSP intact.
- Bands: 6 parametric bell bands, each with gain, frequency and bandwidth, plus low and high shelving filters.
- Phase-modeled filters: analog-phased curves, including analog-phased high frequencies, rather than standard minimum- or linear-phase digital filters.
- Transparency: filters designed to stay clean while shaping; Kush calls it an EQ that "does zero damage" to the sound.
- Extended gain range: more boost and cut than the original Magpha EQ.
- Master trim: an output trim control; there are no other parameters.
- Presets: an updated preset manager, with all available presets included.
KVR lists version 1.0.1. A perpetual license with free updates is available, and a free 10-day demo is offered. It is also included in Kush's subscription to all its plugins.

When to use it
q.632 is for engineers who want a plain, very clean EQ with a smooth, analog-phase character and nothing else to think about. Compared with Pro-Q 4, it has no analyser, dynamic bands, linear-phase mode or M/S, but its fixed band layout and phase-modeled curves are aimed at gentle mastering moves rather than correction. It is cleaner than UA's Manley Massive Passive, which adds tube colour. Next to Three-Body Kirchhoff-EQ it is far simpler, with eight bands and no visual feedback, which some will see as a plus for listening-first decisions.
- Best for: transparent tonal balancing on masters, mix busses and acoustic recordings.
- Genres: any; especially acoustic, classical, jazz and singer-songwriter material.
- Look elsewhere if: you need a spectrum display, dynamic or M/S EQ (Pro-Q 4, TDR Nova), or want audible analog colour (Manley Massive Passive).
What producers say
The one full review found praises the sound strongly but marks it down for its bare interface.
- Audio Plugin Guy (Ashwin Vinayagamoorthy, February 2025) rated it 3.9 out of 5, praising its fidelity, phase-coherent filtering and easy use, and saying it brings "clinical precision" to mastering.
- Criticisms: the same review called it "one of the plainest-looking plugins you will ever see" and noted little visual feedback while adjusting.
- KVR: no user reviews yet.
