What it does

Clarent is a guitar amp plugin inspired by Orange amps, built on what Kuassa calls its third-generation tube simulation.

Amps: three types: A (clean and thick), B (crunchy, mid-forward) and C (modern high gain), each with Low Gain and High Gain channels.
Speakers and mics: five cabinets based on Orange cabinets and seven microphone types, with dual-miking.
Power amp: Sag and Bias controls.
Extras: noise gate, limiter, low/high-pass filters and up to 8x oversampling.

It also loads as a module in Amplifikation 360.

When to use it

Reach for it when you want a thick, mid-forward heavy sound with a different flavour from the Marshall-style Caliburn or the Mesa-style Rectifor. It covers clean through to modern high gain, so it works for heavy rock and metal rhythm guitars as well as thicker clean parts.
