It also works as a tape saturator or tube preamp, for $99.99.

Keywords: tape, tube, tape echo, drums, synths, 60s, hardware emulation, lo-fi, vocals, electric guitar, vintage, 50s, crunchy, dark, flutter, gritty, mixing, multi-tap, randomize, slapback, sound design, tempo-synced, warm, wobble.

What it does

Korneff calls Echoleffe "the most accurate and tweakable tape delay out there". It models a 1961 tube tape echo unit, including its late-1950s tube preamp, and lets you use each part on its own.

Version 1.0.5. Updates are included with the purchase. A demo is available.

When to use it

Echoleffe is the better pick when you want deep control over a single vintage tube tape echo, plus a tape saturator and tube preamp in the same plugin. Compared with EchoBoy, it covers far fewer echo styles and has no groove controls, but goes further into one unit's tape age, bias and formulation. Galaxy Tape Echo and Delay TAPE-201 model the later Roland Space Echo, while Echoleffe models an older tube unit with three delay lines. It costs more than ValhallaDelay.

What producers say

Early hands-on coverage was positive, praising its range beyond plain delay.
