Spinn by Klevgrand

Spinn is a multiband rotary modulation effect from Klevgrand with four rotors, one per frequency band, each with its own speed, acceleration and size.

Rotor speed can follow the input level, and it adds room and amp simulation, for $49.99.

Best for: Keys & Synths, Guitars, Vocals, Sound Design. Genres: Rock & Indie, Jazz, Acoustic & Classical, Electronic & EDM.

Keywords: rotary, multi-band, room, keys, chorus, electric guitar, inspired by, original design, simple, wide, mixing, piano, sound design, brass, pads, subtle, vocals.

What it does

Spinn is Klevgrand's four-band rotating modulation effect. It takes the idea of a Leslie-style rotary speaker and gives each frequency band its own rotor, rather than copying one piece of hardware.

Version 1.1.2 added window zoom. The free demo is the full version with occasional audio dropouts.

When to use it

Spinn is the better pick when you want rotary-speaker motion that differs across the spectrum, for example a slow swirl in the lows and a fast flutter on top. Compared with ShaperBox 3, it does one job, but with Leslie-style speed ramps and Doppler that ShaperBox doesn't model; MusicRadar noted ShaperBox handles bands more flexibly. At gentle settings it can stand in for chorus or phasing, though MicroShift is simpler for plain widening. Its amp section is basic, and it has no internal LFO for the speed control, so tempo changes need DAW automation.

What producers say

Reviewers liked the sound and the low price; the main reservations are about the multiband handling and the basic amp.
