It adds two room simulations, a reverb and a damper control, for $9.99.

Keywords: film & game audio, cinematic, guitar instrument, lo-fi, minimal controls, modern, simple, textures.

What it does

Speldosa is Klevgrand's "Wintergatan Music Box", sold with the line "For all the melodies you have in you." Martin Molin of Wintergatan recorded a real music box using an acoustic guitar as its resonance box and chose the best samples for the instrument.

The current version is 1.0.4. The free demo is the full version with occasional audio dropouts.

When to use it

Speldosa is a tiny, inexpensive instrument for one sound, the music box, recorded by Wintergatan. Compared with BBC Symphony Orchestra Core or Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition, it has none of the range of a full orchestral library, but it is far cheaper and lighter, and its Eternal model adds reversed music-box playback. Next to Trilian or MODO BASS 2, it is a sketching toy rather than a deep instrument, with only a handful of controls. It suits film, game and pop producers who want that delicate, nostalgic tone without loading a large library.
