SDRR by Klanghelm

A "saturation chameleon" with four modes (TUBE, DIGI, FUZZ and DESK) that react dynamically to the input and each blend two models.

It doubles as compressor, EQ, bit-crusher and subtle stereo widener, with a DRIFT control for movement and RMS level-difference metering for level matching.

Best for: Drums, Bass, Guitars, Drum Bus, Mix Bus. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: fuzz, tube, metering, subtle, auto-gain, bass, drums, mixing, warm, bus processing, enhancement, glue, A/B compare, bitcrush, drum bus, full mix, germanium, harmonic enhancer, heavy, mix bus, sample-rate reduction, single-band, wide.

What it does

SDRR is Klanghelm's "saturation chameleon," built to cover most saturation needs with a full set of controls for shaping the character. Each of its four modes has its own crosstalk behavior, which can be switched off or exaggerated.

Klanghelm suggests trying the free IVGI to judge CPU use and quality.

When to use it

Pick SDRR when you want four distinct saturation types, including clean digital harmonics and fuzz, at a low price, rather than the aggressive analog-style drive of Soundtoys Decapitator or the single control of the free Softube Saturation Knob. FabFilter Saturn 2 goes further than SDRR with multiband processing and modulation. Klanghelm's own IVGI is the free version of SDRR's DESK mode.

What producers say

MusicRadar and KVR users praise its range and value, with minor complaints about a missing tape mode and the input trim.
