What it does

DC8C is Klanghelm's advanced compressor, which the developer describes as "one of the most flexible compressors around." Its default character is clean and open, aimed at compression without artifacts, with two saturation models when you want color.

When to use it

DC8C costs a fraction of the price of FabFilter Pro-C 3, the more polished all-round compressor with better visual feedback, TDR Kotelnikov, a clean mastering compressor with a free version, and Sonnox Oxford Dynamics, another deep, transparent option. Its feedback/feedforward blend, pre-attack and hold controls let you build styles from transparent to smashed.

What producers say

Reviewers and users praise its flexibility, clean sound and price; complaints are about the older interface and CPU use in heavy modes.
