What it does

Limiter is Kilohearts' "Volume threshold" plugin. The developer says it keeps audio under a set level without distortion or destroyed transients, using lookahead to control peaks even at extreme gain settings.

Threshold: the maximum level the output is allowed to reach.
In and Out gain: gain before and after limiting, for pushing into the limiter or setting the final level.
Release: how quickly the limiter recovers after catching a peak.
VU meter: shows input level, the threshold and the current attenuation.
Snapin use: loads in Phase Plant, Multipass or Snap Heap, where its knobs can be modulated and it can be combined with other Snapins.

When to use it

Kilohearts Limiter is the pick for a free safety limiter on busses and sound-design chains, or at the end of a Phase Plant or Snap Heap patch. It lacks the metering and style options of full mastering limiters such as FabFilter Pro-L 2 and TDR Limiter 6 GE, and it limits peaks rather than clipping them like Venn Audio Free Clip 2.

Best for: catching peaks on busses and synth chains, protecting the output of heavy sound-design patches and quick loudness.
