What it does

Faturator is a distortion and saturation effect that preserves dynamics, from subtle warmth to heavy digital fuzz. Kilohearts says it responds consistently regardless of input level.

Drive and Color: Drive saturates the signal; Color emphasises frequencies before distortion.
Fuzz: adds high-frequency texture.
Stereo Turbo: adds width through channel delay.
Metering: input and output stereo meters, plus a Mix control.

It is sold separately or included in the Kilohearts Subscription; it works as a plugin or a Snapin. A 10-day trial is available.

When to use it

Faturator is a compact, digital-flavoured saturator. It's simpler than FabFilter Saturn 2 and doesn't model tubes or tape like Soundtoys Decapitator; the pitch is quick fattening without losing punch. Works on drums, bass, synths and buses in electronic, hip-hop and pop.
