What it does
Distinct Pro! is Kiive Audio's saturation and distortion processor, going from subtle density to full grit. Kiive calls it "our most versatile saturation yet," and it adds dynamics control to the drive stage.
- Drive section: several saturation circuits with harmonic distortion and saturation controls, adjustable per channel.
- Dynamics section: a compressor with threshold and behavior controls, plus transient shaping to bring attacks forward or tuck them back.
- Pre/post EQ: tone-shape the signal before it hits the drive and after it.
- 3-band saturation: drive the lows, mids and highs separately, with mid/side control.
- Channel modes: Mono, Stereo and M/S operation.
There are no subscriptions, updates are free for life, and a 14-day fully working trial needs no card. The cheaper Distinct! is a lighter edition.

When to use it
Distinct Pro! is a low-cost all-round color tool with compression and transient shaping built into the saturator. Compared with Decapitator it adds multiband drive, M/S and dynamics, but it doesn't have Decapitator's well-known hardware-inspired styles and punish setting. Compared with Saturn 2 it is cheaper and simpler, with three fixed bands and no modulation system. It does far more than Softube's Saturation Knob, which is a one-control tool, at the cost of more setup time.
- Best for: adding density or grit to drums, bass, vocals and buses, especially when you also want to tame or push transients.
- Genres: rock, hip-hop, electronic and pop.
- Look elsewhere if: you want detailed multiband modulation (Saturn 2), one quick analog-style drive (Decapitator) or tape color (Ampex ATR-102).
