What it does
Nectar 4 is iZotope's vocal processing suite, sold as Elements, Standard and Advanced editions. Standard includes these modules: Voices, Backer, Pitch, two EQs, two compressors, Reverb, De-esser, Dimension, Gate and Saturation.
- Vocal Assistant: a simplified interface for making basic vocal decisions without going deep into each module.
- Backer: adds background singers behind the main vocal, with custom upload; it is not in Elements.
When to use it
Nectar 4 is a whole vocal chain in one plugin, so it suits home producers who want a quick, well-organised starting point for lead and backing vocals. Engineers who prefer to choose each processor separately will find dedicated plugins more flexible. It works for pop, hip-hop, singer-songwriter and podcast-style voices.
