What it does

Analog Pro is Initial Audio's tape, vinyl and lo-fi saturation plugin. The developer's aim is to bring life to digital audio by simulating "the imperfections of analog tape machines and vinyl turntables".

KVR lists version 1.3.0. It is a perpetual license, and it was on sale when checked. The product page does not mention a demo.

When to use it

Analog Pro is a cheap, simple lo-fi box: one page of knobs for noise, wobble, filtering and analog colour, with a single Amount control to blend it all in. Compared with RC-20 Retro Color it has fewer modules and no per-module magnitude control, so it is less flexible, but it is quicker to dial in and usually much cheaper. Unlike TAIP or the Ampex ATR-102 from Universal Audio, it is not a detailed tape machine model; its strength is the worn, vinyl-and-cassette side rather than realistic tape saturation. Against Decapitator it offers very little drive or distortion and is more about texture and age than grit.

What producers say

Feedback is thin; the one KVR review sees it as a cheap, decent lo-fi tool rather than a high-end analog emulation.
