What it does
Space Delay is a T-RackS model of the Roland RE-201 Space Echo tape delay and spring reverb.
- Heads: three adjustable playback heads with variable tape speed, and 12 operating modes as on the original.
- Stereo: individual panning for the heads and the reverb.
- Filtering and ducking: high-pass and low-pass filters on the input, plus dynamic ducking so echoes stay out of the way of the dry signal.
- Lo-fi: noise and tape age controls.
- Modeling: dynamic convolution and physical modeling of a 1974 unit; 32-bit at 192 kHz.
- Included in T-RackS 6 and Total Studio 5.

When to use it
Space Delay is aimed at the classic Space Echo sound: warm, wobbly repeats with spring reverb, popular for dub, reggae, psychedelic and lo-fi textures. It is a close relative of Universal Audio's Galaxy Tape Echo; unlike EchoBoy, which covers more delay styles, Space Delay sticks to one hardware model. Where IK's own Tape Echo models the Echoplex, a different, more direct slapback sound, Space Delay models the Space Echo.
