ZeroLoud
by HoRNet · Limiter · Automatic LUFS-targeting maximizer
Not rated yet
ZeroLoud is a HoRNet maximizer that analyzes your track and sets itself to hit a chosen integrated loudness target between -30 and -5 LUFS.
It includes full LUFS metering, a true peak ceiling and a four-step guided workflow, for about $28.
Best for: Mastering, Mix Bus. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: metering, true-peak, dialogue, full mix, oversampling, podcast, bus processing, mastering, mix bus, perpetual licence, single-band.
What it does
ZeroLoud is HoRNet's "intelligent maximizer that hits your target LUFS automatically". You play the loudest part of a track, pick a loudness target, and it works out the gain and limiting from an offline analysis, so there is no threshold to set by trial and error.
- Target loudness: choose any target from -30 to -5 LUFS, such as -14 LUFS for streaming.
- Guided workflow: four steps: Learning, Target, Analysis and Application. Play about 10 seconds of the loudest section, pick the target, let it calculate, then press Apply to process in real time.
- Offline analysis: the gain and limiting curve are calculated from a 10-second buffer rather than adjusted on the fly.
- Trim: ±6 dB of adjustment after analysis, without re-analysing.
- Ceiling: a true peak ceiling from -6.0 to 0.0 dB.
- LUFS metering: momentary (400 ms), short-term (3 s) and integrated loudness.
- Oversampling: automatic 2x oversampling at sample rates below 88.2 kHz.
HoRNet lists its limits plainly: it is not a multiband maximizer, adds no analog colour, needs the analysis pass (so it doesn't suit live streaming) and won't fix a badly balanced mix. Version 1.0.1 brought VST3 loading and CPU fixes. It is a one-time purchase with free updates and a 15-day money-back guarantee. The demo has no time limit but cuts out every 30 seconds.
When to use it
ZeroLoud is for people who mostly need to hit a streaming or broadcast loudness target quickly and cheaply, without learning how a limiter behaves. Compared with FabFilter Pro-L 2, it gives up the limiting styles, attack and release settings and detailed display for a set-a-target workflow and two fine-tuning controls. Ozone 12 Maximizer also aims at a loudness target, but ZeroLoud costs far less and does only this one job. Unlike Weiss MM-1 or L2 Ultramaximizer, which you push by ear until it sounds right, ZeroLoud starts from the number you need and works back from it.
- Best for: bringing demos, self-released tracks, stems and podcasts to a set LUFS target.
- Genres: any; also podcasts and broadcast work.
- Look elsewhere if: you want to shape limiter character and release behaviour, need multiband limiting, or want analog colour; Pro-L 2 or Ozone 12 Maximizer give that control.
