ZeroBus by HoRNet

ZeroBus is a HoRNet mix bus processor that combines a 31-band automatic EQ with compression that learns its threshold and makeup gain.

Its compressor has two modes, FAT (parallel, 1176-style) and GLUE (serial, SSL-style). It costs about $28.

Best for: Mix Bus, Drum Bus. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: bus processing, mix bus, glue, inspired by, fat, parallel processing, British console, hardware emulation, metering, 60s, 80s, dark, drum bus, drums, full mix, mixing, oversampling, punchy, single-band, vintage, visual feedback.

What it does

ZeroBus is HoRNet's "two-step mix bus processor": an automatic EQ balances the spectrum, then a compressor that learns your material glues the result. The idea is bus cohesion in a few seconds, without hunting for frequencies or thresholds.

Version 1.1.1 works at 44.1 to 192 kHz. A free demo is available, and HoRNet offers a 15-day money-back guarantee. It is also part of the ZeroBundle.

When to use it

ZeroBus is the better pick when you want a balanced, glued bus with two or three decisions instead of a full EQ and compressor setup. Compared with The Glue or SSL G-Master Buss Compressor, it adds automatic tonal balancing in front of the compression, but you give up the attack, release and ratio controls that make those plugins precise. Its GLUE mode aims for a similar SSL-style job, while FAT mode gives a parallel, 1176-flavoured squash that a single bus compressor can't do on its own. Compared with an assistant suite like Ozone 12, it is far cheaper and narrower: no limiter, imaging or reference matching.
