Thrust is a loudness enhancer that raises perceived loudness with multiband processing and an adjustable waveshaping curve.
It has 0 dB clip protection, a delta mode, oversampling up to 8x and support for up to 10 channels, for about $18.16.
Best for: Mastering, Mix Bus, Drum Bus. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: enhancement, multi-band, oversampling, bus processing, full mix, single knob, beginner-friendly, drum bus, drums, finishing touch, mastering, minimal controls, mix bus, mixing, resizable UI, subtle.
What it does
Thrust is HoRNet's loudness enhancer: it makes tracks sound louder and fuller without limiting them harder. The developer says it does this "without sacrificing the clarity or dynamics."
- Perceived loudness boost: multiband processing raises the energy across the frequency range, so material sounds denser at the same peak level.
- Waveshaping curve: a customisable curve inside the multiband stage adds harmonic saturation; you shape how much colour it adds.
- Loudness curve: a separate curve that sets how the boost is weighted across the spectrum.
- Effect amount: one control for how much of the processing you hear, from subtle to obvious.
- 0 dB clip protection: keeps the output from going over 0 dB, so it can sit right before the end of a chain.
- Delta mode: plays only the difference the plugin makes, so you can hear exactly what is being added.
- Quality and setup: oversampling from 1x to 8x, full bypass, up to 10 channels, preset load and save, and a resizable interface with light and dark themes.
Version 1.0.1 is a free update for owners. The demo is fully functional, but it drops to silence now and then, cannot save settings with a session and ignores host automation.
When to use it
Thrust is a cheap way to add density and perceived loudness before a limiter. Compared with Sonnox Oxford Inflator, the best-known tool for this job, it has the same aim but builds in multiband processing, a delta mode and up to 8x oversampling. Unlike Decapitator or Black Box HG-2, it is not meant for obvious drive or analogue colour; the saturation stays in service of loudness. It is also more focused than Softube's Saturation Knob, which adds grit with one knob but has no loudness curve or clip protection. It does not limit peaks, so it still needs a limiter after it on a master.
- Best for: adding density and loudness to masters, mix buses and drum buses, just before the limiter.
- Genres: all, especially electronic, hip-hop and pop where loudness matters.
- Look elsewhere if: you need peak limiting (use a limiter such as Pro-L 2 or HoRNet's Magnus MK3) or heavy saturation and character (Decapitator).
