ThirtyOne MK2 by HoRNet

ThirtyOne MK2 combines a 31-band third-octave graphic EQ with a matching spectrum analyzer modelled on an Italian analog analyzer.

Its AutoEQ can match a target curve using three algorithms, and each band can be bypassed, soloed or left out of AutoEQ, for about $23.83.

Best for: Mix Bus, Mastering, Vocals. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: built-in analyzer, full mix, inspired by, broad-strokes, bus processing, hardware emulation, mastering, mix bus, mixing, smooth, static, vocals.

What it does

ThirtyOne MK2 puts a hardware-style spectrum analyzer and a 31-band graphic EQ in one plugin, with an AutoEQ that can push the EQ towards a target curve. HoRNet modeled the analyzer on "a well-known Italian analog spectrum analyzer", including its response time.

Version 2.1.2 is a free update for owners, fixing preset crashes and silent exports in FL Studio and other hosts. The demo is fully working but goes silent now and then, can't save presets and ignores automation.

When to use it

ThirtyOne MK2 is the better pick when you want to balance a whole mix or master by eye on a classic third-octave display and then let the EQ follow a target curve. Compared with Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova it is far less precise: its bands sit at fixed third-octave points, so it can't make narrow cuts or dynamic moves. Next to SPAN it is a less detailed analyzer, but it can act on what it shows. Unlike smart:EQ 4, which picks a tonal target with AI, it leaves the target curve to you, and it costs a fraction of the price.
