Molla by HoRNet

Molla is a free physically modeled spring reverb from HoRNet, with one spring model and an animated spring that reacts to the input.

Controls cover reverb length, density and dry/wet mix.

Best for: Guitars, Vocals, Drums, Keys & Synths. Genres: Rock & Indie, Lo-Fi, R&B & Soul.

Keywords: spring, physical modelling, free, lo-fi, drums, vocals, CPU-light, dub, electric guitar, metallic, minimal controls, smooth, cathedral, harsh, mixing, resizable UI, retro, subtle, vintage.

What it does

Molla (Italian for "spring") is HoRNet's free physically modeled spring reverb. It takes the algorithms of HoRNet's SpringVerb and cuts them down to a few controls, aiming for "a unique and vintage reverb character" with low CPU use.

It is free.

When to use it

Molla is the pick when you want a quick, free spring sound with almost no setup. Compared with Arturia Rev SPRING-636 it has one spring and three knobs, with no tone controls or tank choices, but it costs nothing and is light on CPU. HoRNet's own SpringVerb uses the same algorithms with more controls, so it is the step up if Molla feels too limited. Valhalla VintageVerb and Pro-R 2 sound more polished but have no dedicated spring model, so Molla is the better fit for the boingy, drippy character of an amp tank.
