JammingRock by HoRNet

JammingRock is a guitar rig built around an emulation of a classic Japanese solid-state jazz amp, the clean amp often heard in reggae.

It chains a green overdrive pedal, the transistor amp with its spring reverb, a tube mixer preamp, and digital delay and reverb, for about $21.56.

Best for: Guitars, Keys & Synths. Genres: Rock & Indie, Jazz, Acoustic & Classical.

Keywords: electric guitar, clean, solid-state, spring, transistor, hardware emulation, tube, classic, keys, vintage, CPU-light, mixing, oversampling, resizable UI, tempo-synced, warm.

What it does

JammingRock is a compact guitar rig built around a clean vintage transistor amp. HoRNet modelled it on a "famous Japanese jazz amplifier" heard on classic reggae records, and developed it with reggae guitarist Valter Vincenti, who plays with Alborosie.

Version 1.0.2 fixed preset loading and improved the overdrive. The demo is fully functional but drops to silence now and then, cannot save its settings with a session and ignores host automation.

When to use it

JammingRock is the pick when you want one specific sound: the bright, clean transistor jazz amp of roots reggae, with the pedal, delay and reverbs already in place. Compared with AmpliTube 5 MAX or Guitar Rig 7 Pro, it has a tiny fraction of the gear, but it is far simpler to dial in and costs a small part of the price. Archetype: Cory Wong X also targets clean tones, but it is built around Cory Wong's funk tones and costs much more, while JammingRock stays focused on that solid-state chime. Unlike Neural Amp Modeler, it needs no captures or IR files; the whole rig loads as one plugin.
