HATEFISh RhyGenerator by HoRNet

HATEFISh RhyGenerator is a MIDI plugin from HoRNet and artist HATEFISh with up to 16 Euclidean step sequencers for building rhythmic patterns.

Each sequencer can play single notes, arpeggios or chords, or send MIDI control, with up to 32 steps and its own LFO. It costs about $17.

Best for: Drums, Keys & Synths, Sound Design. Genres: Electronic & EDM.

Keywords: rhythmic, drums, synths, MIDI-controllable, flat UI, mixing, resizable UI, simple, sound design, thin, utility.

What it does

HATEFISh RhyGenerator is HoRNet's Euclidean rhythm generator, built to "create rhythmic patterns in a few seconds". Each lane spreads a number of beats as evenly as possible over a number of steps, and the plugin sends MIDI to your instruments rather than processing audio.

The current version is 1.2.3. In Logic Pro it loads as a MIDI effect. There is no demo, but HoRNet offers a 15-day money-back guarantee. A free one-lane edition, RhyGenerator One, is sold separately.

When to use it

RhyGenerator is the pick for building layered Euclidean polyrhythms across drums and synths from one plugin. Compared with the free RhyGenerator One, it gives you 16 lanes instead of one, each on its own MIDI channel with its own speed and LFO. Its arpeggiator modes set it apart from plain Euclidean drum sequencers: held notes are looped through the rhythm, so it works on melodic and chordal parts too. Compared with a DAW's built-in step sequencer, it generates patterns from two numbers per lane rather than drawing steps by hand.

What producers say

Feedback is thin but positive, with its melodic arpeggio modes seen as the standout.
