DynEq

DynEq is a single-band dynamic EQ that only boosts or cuts when the signal crosses a threshold, to tame resonances without static filtering.
Auto-speed follows the host tempo and auto-threshold adapts to the signal, with an EQ listen button for finding problem frequencies. It costs €10.99 (about $12.48).
Best for: Vocals, Guitars, Acoustic Instruments, Mix Bus. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: dynamic, corrective, vocals, bass, acoustic guitar, bus processing, full mix, harsh, mix bus, mixing, oversampling, sidechain input, snare.
What it does
DynEq is HoRNet's single-band dynamic EQ, made to "fix resonances in a very natural way." Its one band acts only when the signal crosses the threshold, so a problem frequency on a bass or vocal is cut or boosted only when it actually appears.
- Band: one parametric band from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with -15 to +15 dB of gain and Q from 0.1 to 8.
- Threshold: from 0 to -48 dB.
- Speed: the envelope detector's response, from 50 to 1,500 ms.
- Auto-Speed: syncs the detector's attack and release times to the host tempo.
- Auto-Threshold: a relative threshold that follows the input level, so the band keeps reacting as the part gets louder or quieter.
- Monitoring: an EQ listen button to solo the band, plus input and sidechain level displays; oversampling is automatic.
The current version is 1.1.1. The demo silences periodically and does not save settings or respond to automation.
When to use it
DynEq is the pick when one problem frequency needs taming and you want few decisions to make. Compared with TDR Nova, which is free and offers several dynamic bands inside a full EQ, it does far less, but its auto-threshold and tempo-synced speed make it quick to set. Next to Pro-Q 4 or Waves F6, it has only one band, so it works as a spot fix rather than a main EQ. It is also much cheaper than either.
- Best for: a harsh vocal frequency, a boomy bass note, a ringing snare or a resonance on acoustic guitar.
- Genres: any style.
- Look elsewhere if: you need several bands or a full EQ with an analyzer; TDR Nova is free and broader, and Pro-Q 4 goes much further.
