What it does
4U+ DynamicTiltEQ is HOFA's free tilt equalizer, which HOFA bills as the first dynamic tilt EQ. The idea is to set the balance between bass and treble with one control, with an "analog feel" in handling and sound.
- Tilt control: up to 24 dB of boost or cut around the pivot, with variable tilt width from transparent to more musical shaping.
- Dynamic bass and treble: the low and high sides can be split and set to react to level, so the tilt changes with the signal.
- Filters: low-cut and high-cut filters at 6 or 12 dB/octave.
- Routing: process stereo, mid, side, left or right on their own.
- Quality and display: up to 32x oversampling and an integrated spectrum analyzer.
- Presets: a preset selection is included in the free version.
The free version is fully functional; a paid version adds parallel processing and a dry/wet control.
When to use it
DynamicTiltEQ is the pick when you want a quick one-knob tonal balance with a bit more control than a plain tilt. Compared with Tonelux Tilt EQ and TILTA it adds level-dependent bass and treble, mid/side and left/right routing and 32x oversampling, and it costs nothing. Unlike TDR VOS SlickEQ, another free broad-stroke EQ, it has no separate bands or saturation, so it works as a balance control rather than a full tone shaper. For precise band-by-band work Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova are the better tools, and the free version lacks a dry/wet control for parallel use.
- Best for: quick tonal balance on buses, masters and vocals, and taming a mix that gets too bright or too dark only when it gets loud.
- Genres: any; general-purpose EQ.
- Look elsewhere if: you need precise band-by-band or dynamic EQ; Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova fit better.
