A free Harrison stereo delay with three taps (left, center and right), each with its own time, pan and feedback.
Modulation and damping give it a classic digital rack delay flavor, and ten presets cover slapback, doubling and ping-pong.
Best for: Vocals, Guitars, Keys & Synths. Genres: Pop, Rock & Indie, Electronic & EDM.
Keywords: slapback, free, ping-pong, spacious, vocals, classic, digital classic, synths, digital delay, electric guitar, simple, vintage, 80s, beginner-friendly, evolving, mixing, modern, multi-tap, tempo-synced, vinyl, wide.
What it does
Harrison 3D Delay is a "free studio-grade stereo delay" from Harrison Audio, now part of SSL. It covers doubling and slapback through to evolving multi-tap ping-pong delays, and is a modern take on Harrison's older 3D Triple Delay.
- Three taps: left, center and right delay taps, each individually timed, panned and given its own feedback.
- Cross-feedback: you can feed signal between taps, for example from center to the sides or back, for more complex patterns.
- Vintage character: modulation and damping controls recall classic digital rackmount delays.
- Filtering and timing: adjustable HP and LP filters, tap tempo, BPM sync and delay-time controls, plus a wet/dry mix.
- Display and presets: a Delay Tap Display Graph with click-and-drag panning, and 10 mix-ready presets such as Slapback, Ping Pong and Rock Echo.
It is free.
When to use it
3D Delay is a free, straightforward three-tap delay. SSL's own X-Delay adds a fourth tap, diffusion and de-essing, Valhalla Delay offers many more modes for a low price, and EchoBoy covers far more vintage styles. Pick 3D Delay if you want a no-cost stereo delay with independent left, center and right taps for doubling, slapback and ping-pong.
- Best for: vocal doubling and slapback, wide guitar solos and synth leads.
- Genres: pop, rock and electronic music, especially '80s-style productions.
- Look elsewhere if: you want tape emulation, long modulated ambient delays or built-in reverb.
- Standout: three separately panned taps with cross-feedback, for free.
What producers say
Early write-ups call it an easy, useful freebie.
- Bedroom Producers Blog (2025): James Nugent wrote "I think it works great on vocals" and, with some modulation, "it's excellent on synths for some 80s character."
- The Gear Forum (2025): one member said "this one IMO is worth adding to your arsenal" and found it "Rather easy to use, too."
