Visual Lab Pro is an audio-reactive visualizer that runs in a DAW or as a standalone app, with 80+ visual modes, synced lyrics and custom text, drag-and-drop images and 20+ effects.
A Performance Mode runs setlists for live shows. It costs $39; Visual Lab Lite is a free version with fewer modes.
Best for: Mix Bus, Sound Design. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: audio visualizer, lyrics & text, live performance, VJ & live visuals, freemium, resizable UI, sound design, standalone app.
What it does
Visual Lab Pro, from the musician-founded plugin company Greyland Audio, turns the audio on a single track or the whole mix into real-time visuals that you can style, automate and perform live. It works inside the DAW or as a desktop app, so the same looks can go from the studio to a stage screen.
- Visual modes: 80+ modes in 10 categories, including Oscilloscope, Lava Lamp, Arcade, Interstellar, Code, Basic Colors, TV, Pixel, Custom Text and Plasma (launch posts said 70+).
- Multiple Mode: up to 36 independent tiles on screen at once.
- Text and lyrics: Custom Text loads your own .ttf or .otf fonts; lyrics can be triggered by hand, cycled automatically or synced and automated from the DAW.
- Effects: 20+ effects in four groups: Texture (Noise, Grain, CRT, Thresh), Dither (Symbol, Star, Flower, Hex), Track (Basic, System, Bracket, Glow, Terminal) and Glass (Ball, 2x2, Full, Flower, Cross, Burst).
- Images and colour: drag-and-drop images and text, and a palette of 441 colours.
- Performance Mode: setlists of presets and effects for live shows, switched from the laptop keyboard.
- Presets and automation: 90 factory presets plus your own, and full DAW automation.
The product page doesn't list a video exporter. Visual Lab Lite is free: it has the 10 visual categories, colour and intensity controls, custom text and a resizable fullscreen window, but not every mode, effect, colour or live tool.

When to use it
Visual Lab Pro is the pick for performers and content makers who want words on screen: synced lyrics, custom fonts and titles are built in, and Performance Mode makes it a live-show tool. Compared with Photism, it leans toward retro and graphic looks (arcade, pixel, TV, code, lava lamp) and tiled layouts rather than a smaller set of lush 3D scenes, and it costs more. Unlike SEER, it has no meters, and its page doesn't mention a built-in video recorder, so clips may need screen-capture software. Next to VS 2 it is much quicker to set up, but has no shader editor or modulation matrix.
- Best for: lyric visualizers, live sets on a projector or second screen, and quick visuals for social clips.
- Genres: any; the retro modes suit electronic, hip-hop and lo-fi.
- Look elsewhere if: you need built-in MP4 export (Photism, SEER), Pro Tools support (Sphere V3, Ganymede Visualizer) or deep layer-and-shader control (VS 2).
- Tip: try Visual Lab Lite first: it covers all 10 visual categories for free.
