Midside is a mid/side processor for stereo imaging and M/S microphone recording, with gain faders, tilt EQs and several width modes.

It includes a Mono Below section for tightening bass, and costs $95.

Best for: Mix Bus, Mastering, Acoustic Instruments, Keys & Synths. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: mid/side, wide, bass, bus processing, full mix, mastering, metering, minimal controls, mix bus, mixing, repair, tight.

What it does

Midside offers "expressive stereo imaging." It turns M/S work that usually needs several tracks and buses into one stereo insert, and the developer says it does with a handful of controls what other M/S plugins need over 50 for.

Goodhertz's downloads page lists version 3.14.1 (June 2026) for its plugin line (the online manual covers 3.13). It is stereo in and stereo out, and all controls, including mute and solo, automate without clicks. A 30-day free trial is available.

When to use it

Midside is a fuller M/S toolbox than a single width knob, which suits mastering, bus work and M/S mic recordings. Compared with Ozone Imager and S1 Stereo Imager, it lacks multiband width but adds tilt EQs on mid and side, mid and side panning and solo/mute for each channel. Unlike bx_stereomaker, which is built to create width on mono or narrow sources, it reshapes a stereo signal that already exists. Its Mono Below section covers the bass-mono job some engineers would otherwise give to a separate plugin.
