Faraday Limiter is an analog-modeled peak limiter with input and output transformers, meant to add color rather than stay transparent.

It has Color and Warmth controls, four ratios and flexible stereo linking, and costs $79.

Best for: Vocals, Drums, Drum Bus, Mix Bus, Bass. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: transformer, colored, vocals, analog-sounding, bass, drums, built-in mix knob, stereo-linked, bus processing, metering, piano, sidechain input, dialogue, drum bus, external sidechain, full mix, mid/side, mix bus, mixing, single-band, tape, transparent, visual feedback.

What it does

Faraday Limiter is described as a "peak limiter w/ a powerful magnetic field." Goodhertz built it as an alternative to transparent limiters: modeled transformers and tape-like saturation make it as much a tone tool as a level control.

Goodhertz's downloads page lists version 3.14.1 (June 2026) for its plugin line. A 30-day free trial is available.

When to use it

Faraday Limiter is closer to a colored compressor-limiter than a mastering limiter. Compared with Pro-L 2, L2 Ultramaximizer or Elephant, it has no true-peak ceiling or loudness metering, but it adds transformer warmth, a Mix control and ratios down to 2:1, so it can work gently as well as hard. Mix found it works better at extreme settings than most plugins. Use it on buses, instruments, vocals or reverb returns when you want peaks controlled with some punch and colour added.

What producers say

Reviewers treat it as a character tool rather than a conventional limiter, and recommend it on that basis.
