What it does

ODDITY3 is GForce's third-generation recreation of the ARP Odyssey duophonic synth. GForce calls it a "faithful and accurate recreation" that keeps the Odyssey's dirty, edgy character while adding modern features.

The current version is 1.1.2. The free trial lasts 6 hours or 7 days, whichever is longer, with restricted patches. Oddity and Oddity2 owners get upgrade pricing.

When to use it

ODDITY3 is the pick for the Odyssey's buzzy, aggressive tone with modern conveniences. Compared with Korg's ARP Odyssey plugin it moves further from the original, adding a polyphonic mode, X-Modifier modulation, built-in effects and a large preset library. Against GForce's MINIMONSTA2 it sounds thinner and edgier, which suits cutting leads and funk bass more than round Moog lows. Unlike broad synths such as Diva or Serum 2 it sticks closely to one classic instrument, which keeps it light on CPU.

What producers say

Reviewers and users see it as one of the strongest Odyssey emulations, with only minor complaints.
