FB Phaser by Full Bucket Music

FB Phaser (Full Bucket Phaser) is a free phaser plugin that simulates classic analog phaser units, with 4 or 8 stages and an LFO.

It processes in stereo and has a resizable interface; it is free.

Best for: Guitars, Keys & Synths, Sound Design. Genres: Rock & Indie, Electronic & EDM, Pop.

Keywords: phaser, free, classic, CPU-light, hardware emulation, resizable UI, simple, synths, wide, electric guitar, keys, subtle, beginner-friendly, enhancement, mixing, parallel processing, piano, sound design, spacious, pads, surgical, swirling, tempo-synced, thick, vintage.

What it does

FB Phaser is a free analog-style phaser that started life inside Full Bucket's own instruments (Deputy Mark II, Nabla and ModulAir); the developer split it out into a standalone plugin "just for fun." It is modelled on the vintage phasers once used to thicken string machines.

The current version is 2.0.2 (24 November 2024). It is a free download; the developer accepts donations.

When to use it

FB Phaser is the pick when you want a classic analog-style sweep for free, with the few controls such a unit needs and almost no CPU cost. Compared with PhaseMistress (Soundtoys), it has one phaser voice instead of many vintage styles and no rhythmic or envelope modulation, but it is quicker to set and costs nothing. Unlike ShaperBox 3 or LFO Tool, it does not draw custom modulation shapes; its LFO is only sine or triangle. It also differs from MicroShift, which widens with pitch-shifted delays rather than sweeping notches, so FB Phaser is the one that actually phases.

What producers say

There is little written about it, but what there is treats it as a solid, lightweight free phaser that leans towards strong effects.
