What it does
Buxom Betty is a model of Friedman's hand-wired single-channel amp, which Plugin Alliance describes as mixing Blackface and Plexi-style circuitry with EL34 tubes, for both clean American and crunchy British tones.
- Power Soak: a circuit for getting amp overdrive at lower volumes.
- FX rack: vintage delay, noise gate and switchable high- and low-pass filters.
- Cabinets: 100 recording chains using boutique cabinets, vintage mics and Neve VXS 72 console processing.
When to use it
Buxom Betty is the Friedman model to reach for when you want clean to crunch rather than full high-gain. A single-amp plugin with no channel switching, it is simpler than multi-amp suites.
- Best for: blues, classic rock, country and edge-of-breakup rhythm parts.
