What it does
Pivot Lite is a free, reduced version of Fors' Pivot FM synthesizer, released in July 2025.
- Engine: two-operator phase-modulation FM, with one operator modulating a carrier and an ADSR envelope for each.
- Filter and effects: a 4-pole morphable state-variable filter (low-pass, band-pass, high-pass or blends), distortion and stereo widening.
- Playing: phase sync with transient control, filter key-tracking, polyphony control and randomise buttons.
- Presets: a bank of tuned presets is included.
When to use it
Pivot Lite is a straightforward, approachable FM synth. With only two operators it is simpler than Dexed or a full multi-operator FM synth, which makes it a good starting point for learning FM or for quick basses, bells and electric-piano tones. It has less functionality than the full Pivot.
- Best for: FM basses, bells, keys and simple leads.
