What it does
Twin 3 is FabFilter's analog-modelled subtractive synthesizer for sound design and music production.
- Sound sources: four vintage-style oscillators with analog drift, plus ring modulation.
- Filters: four filters with adjustable slope and shape (low/high/band pass, bell, shelf and notch).
- Modulation: a 100-slot modulation matrix with XLFOs, envelopes, envelope followers, MIDI sources and XY controllers.
- Effects and playing: reverb, delay, chorus, phaser/flanger, drive and compression; 64 voices, arpeggiator and polyphonic portamento.

When to use it
Twin 3 is a synth built for deep sound design and easy modulation. Its focus is a fast, visual workflow rather than a huge sample or wavetable library, so it sits closer to a virtual analog synth like Diva than a wavetable one like Serum 2.
- Best for: basses, leads, pads and evolving textures made from scratch.
- Look elsewhere if: you mainly want a large browsable set of ready-made sounds.
