What it does
Simplon is FabFilter's basic filter plugin. It has two multimode filters, each with low-pass, high-pass and band-pass responses. It draws on the filter design of FabFilter One and is a simpler alternative to Volcano 3.
- Filters: three characteristics per filter, with 12, 24 and 48 dB/octave slopes.
- Routing: serial or parallel.
- Interface: interactive filter display, large draggable knobs, MIDI Learn and preset browser.

When to use it
Simplon sits between Micro and Volcano 3: two filters and clear controls, but no modulation system.
- Best for: band-limiting sounds, sweeps, and creative two-filter shaping such as a high-pass and low-pass together.
- Look elsewhere if: you want modulation, drive or complex routing; use Volcano 3.
