What it does
Bloom Bass Groove is part of Excite Audio's Bloom series of phrase-based instruments. It is built from sampled electric bass performances, covering slap, fingerstyle and picked playing, run through custom amp simulations, filters and dynamics.
- Sample keys: 14 keys spread over two octaves, each holding a BPM-synced sample, with 8 banks holding 112 bass samples in total.
- Presets: 250 presets in seven categories: Clean, Experimental, High Energy, Low Energy, Melodic, Processed and Rhythmic.
- Phrase Player: sequences samples into more complex basslines, with five black keys used to trigger patterns.
- Effects: Speaker (amp and speaker simulation), an envelope-responsive Filter, and Dynamics for transient shaping and compression; four macros (Tube, Digital, Sub-EQ, Realism) give quick control.
- Sample editing and import: forward, reverse, pendulum and loop playback with variable speed, and you can drag in your own audio.

When to use it
Bloom Bass Groove is for triggering finished, played bass phrases rather than performing a bass part note by note. That sets it apart from MODO BASS 2 and EZbass, full bass instruments where you write or play every note, and from Virtual Bassist, which generates parts in a set style from chords. Pick Bloom Bass Groove when you want ready-made grooves you can rearrange and process quickly.
- Best for: sketching funk, soul and pop basslines from played phrases, and adding a live bass feel to beats without programming each note.
