What it does

MangledVerb, from the H9 algorithm set, combines a reverb with overdrive and distortion.

Signal path: pre-delay feeds a stereo reverb into the distortion stage.
Distortion: from soft clipping to overdrive, with a Wobble control for detuning.
I/O: mono-in/mono-out, mono-in/stereo-out or stereo-in/stereo-out.
Control: Ribbon, a programmable HotSwitch, MIDI and tap tempo, with 180+ presets (some by Richard Devine and Vernon Reid).

When to use it

MangledVerb is a special-effect reverb: the distortion sits after the reverb, so the tail itself is driven. It is a different tool from the clean, natural reverbs at the top of the reverb list.

Best for: gritty ambience, industrial textures, effect sends on drums and guitars, and sound design.
Genres: electronic, industrial, rock and experimental.
