What it does

EQ45 is Eventide's emulation of the UREI 545 parametric equalizer.

Bands: four parametric bands with gain and width controls.
Filters: 24 dB per octave Butterworth high-pass and low-pass filters, which can be used independently of the EQ with the EQ in/out toggle.
Protection: overload protection for transients above -0.1 dB.
Presets: instrument-specific factory presets.

When to use it

EQ45 is a straightforward, hardware-style parametric with steep cut filters, so it suits mixers who want a simple set of bands rather than a graphical or dynamic EQ. Compared with modern EQs such as Pro-Q 4, which offer many more bands and analysis, EQ45 is the more focused, vintage-flavoured option.

Best for: tracking and mixing of most instruments, and cleaning up with the steep filters.
