What it does

DeBoom is a one-knob processor for removing low-frequency boom and mud without softening the attack of the sound.

Structural Split: Eventide's technology separates the transient and tonal parts of the signal.
Targeted cut: EQ is applied to the tonal layer only, so the attack is left alone.
Uses: repairing, reshaping or enhancing low frequencies.
Eventide describes it as a simplified version of its SplitEQ. It has a 14-day demo.

When to use it

DeBoom is for quick fixes: booming kick drums, boxy rooms, muddy toms and bass, without setting up an EQ and dynamic processor by hand. If you want full control over each band, a parametric or dynamic EQ such as Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova gives more precision; DeBoom trades that for speed.

Best for: drums, room recordings, bass and live-recorded sources.
