What it does
Blackhole Immersive is the multichannel version of Eventide's Blackhole reverb, built for Dolby Atmos, surround and other immersive mixes.
- Layouts: mono, stereo, LCR, quad, 5.0 to 7.1.6 and 9.0.4 to 9.1.6.
- Spatial controls: tilt controls for Gravity, Size and Feedback, separate EQ for front, top and rear speakers, and crossfeed between speakers.
- Performance: a Morph function for moving between settings, plus Kill Dry, Kill Wet, Freeze and Mix Lock.
- Extras: 150+ presets, resizable interface, undo/redo and A/B comparison.
When to use it
Choose this over the stereo Blackhole when the mix is delivered in Atmos or surround and you want one huge reverb spread across the whole speaker array rather than a stereo return. Eventide lists Logic Pro, Pro Tools (with the Dolby Atmos Renderer) and Nuendo as its tested hosts.
- Best for: film and TV sound design, ambient and cinematic music, and immersive music mixes.
- Look elsewhere if: you only mix in stereo; the regular Blackhole costs less and has the same core sound.
