What it does

Voices of Passion is EastWest's library of solo female voices for film, TV, games and New Age music. Producers Doug Rogers and Nick Phoenix recorded five singers from five regions, aiming at an ethereal, emotional sound rather than a pop vocal.

It runs in EastWest's Opus player (and the older PLAY 6). It is sold as a perpetual licence, and it is also part of the ComposerCloud+ subscription. Downloads are non-returnable once delivered.

When to use it

Voices of Passion is a pick for solo, world-flavoured female voices that sit behind a cue as colour. Compared with Eric Whitacre Choir it gives you single soloists with regional styles instead of a full choir, and its phrases carry more character but far less freedom to write your own lines. Unlike Augmented VOICES, it keeps the voices mostly natural rather than turning them into evolving synth textures. Against EastWest's own Voices of the Empire, it trades depth on one singer (words and two legato styles) for five different regional voices in one library.

What producers say

Users like the sound and atmosphere but find the library narrow, with legato its weakest part.
